Stroup, Jr. collection are heavily weighted to his Pentagon assignments, although there are earlier photos of his West Point years, his wedding, his Vietnam service and an assignment at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Fort Monroe, Virginia. Many of the Pentagon era photos are of social affairs, briefings, entertaining foreign military visitors, promotion, medal presentation, farewell ceremonies and a trip to the Far East.

Theodore G. Stroup, Jr. graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point, New York with the class of 1962. His early assignments were with the Engineer Corps. He saw service in Vietnam with various Construction Engineer units and subsequently attended the Engineer Officer Advanced Course and became Course Director, Military Science Branch at the USMA.
